About the Book

Kate Barrow, a contracts administrator at a defense giant, has experienced more than her share of tragedy and heartbreak. After the sudden death of her parents, she gave up her dream archaeology job in the UK and moved back home to Northern Virginia. More recently, an ugly break-up has left her playing it safe in love, too.

All that’s about to change.

When Kate takes over a new contract following a colleague’s death, she realizes something isn’t right. She suspects the disturbing events that occur soon after her discovery are tied to what she’s learned. But are they? And if so, who’s behind them?

As she attempts to uncover the identity of the person who has it in for her, help comes from where she least expects it: Hicks, a retired Navy SEAL and owner of the gym that’s become her refuge; and Declan O’Rourke, a wealthy software developer with his own tragic past. With the help of Hicks, Declan, and some newfound allies, Kate races to find out the truth before it’s too late.

Like a lot of writers, I’ve been writing for as long as I can remember. I started with short stories and essays and entered a few writing contests as a kid. I’ve moved from a notebook to a typewriter to a word processor – anyone remember Wang word processing? And now … well, here we are.

No matter what’s been going on in my life, the writing has always been there. The stories and characters have changed over the years; some are dark, others are lighter and more upbeat. But I never stopped writing.

In January of 2023 I finally decided to take the leap, quit my full-time job and focused solely on finishing Saint of Lost Souls. I’ve since gone back to a day job as a contracts administrator but am working on the second book in the Kate Barrow series.

I love Kate, Declan, Hicks, and all the characters you’ll meet or have met in the first book in the series, and I’m not ready to let them go. I’m excited about the series I have planned with these wonderful folks – and of course, Finn, Jasper, and Luna. The story wouldn’t be quite the same without them.

When I’m not writing, I enjoy spending time with my family and exploring my adopted town of Greenville, South Carolina. It’s a lovely place to live, work, and find inspiration.
